Doracat has ensured that this website will allow its users to re-size the text to their personal preference. Look below for information about increasing the text size in your web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL etc.) or on your system. Selecting a higher font size will make the letters on the website larger (and possibly easier to read), while a lower font size will make the letters smaller, letting you see more of the web page at once.

Try This First

Press control and use the scroll wheel

If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel hold the Ctrl button while scrolling the wheel up and down to adjust the font sizes quickly.

Internet Explorer 7+ Users

From the Menu Bar select "View".

Scroll to "Text Size" and choose your preference.

Internet Explorer 5+

In the menu at the top of your browser window labeled 'View' there is an item labeled 'Text Size', which opens a sub-menu. This sub-menu should have the items 'Largest', 'Larger', 'Medium', 'Smaller', and 'Smallest'. One of these items should be marked; this is your current font size.

Netscape Navigator 4.x

In the menu at the top of your browser window labeled 'View' there are two items labeled 'Increase Font' and 'Decrease Font'. Selecting 'Increase Font' will make the letters on the web-page larger. Selecting 'Decrease Font' will make the letters smaller. Alternately, you can hold down the keyboard key labeled 'Ctrl' and then press ']' to increase the font size or '[' to decrease the font size.

Netscape 6+, Firefox (Mozilla - Gecko)

In the menu at the top of your browser window labeled 'View' there is an item labeled 'Text Zoom' with a percentage in parentheses. When you select this item a sub-menu will open which gives you a number of self-explanatory options for changing your font size. Alternately, you can hold down the keyboard key labeled 'Ctrl' and press the keys '+' or '-' to increase or decrease your font size, respectively.

Opera

In the menu at the top of your browser window select 'View' then 'Zoom', then select a percentage size from the list.

Safari 1.0b

In the menu at the top of your browser window labelled 'View' there are two items labelled "Make Text Bigger" and "Make Text Smaller". Alternately, you can hold down the "command" key (the one with the apple logo on it) and press the keys '+' or '-' to increase or decrease your font size, respectively.

AOL

AOL browser 7+ is similar to Netscape 6+ and Mozilla, while earlier versions were similar to Internet Explorer. AOL also allows you to use any browser you want. If you don't know what browser you're using, you can usually find out by looking in the Help menu under 'About mybrowser', where 'mybrowser' is replaced by the name of the browser. Selecting 'About mybrowser' will bring up specific version information.

Limitations of Text Re-sizing

Words rendered as images or included as part of a graphic (for example logos, banners, and pictures) cannot be resized by most of these methods. The exception is the Opera browser which "zooms" the whole page.

Increasing the text size will show less text on each page, so you may need to scroll down to view all of the text.

Modifying font sizes will alter the layout and design of the pages you view to facilitate the larger text.

How to Adjust System Fonts

If you find that adjusting the text size in the browser does not fix a text size problem you are experiencing it is possible your machine may have unusual system font size settings (perhaps to compensate for a high resolution display setting).

Do not adjust these unless you have already adjusted your browser fonts and are still experiencing unacceptable font sizes.

Resizing System Fonts

First make sure your browser will not override system font settings.

Firefox

  1. Go to "Tools"
  2. Select "Options"
  3. Click "Content"
  4. Select "Advanced"
  5. Deselect the checkbox next to "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

Netscape 6.0 and higher (AOL 7+)

  1. Go to "Edit"
  2. Select "Preferences"
  3. Click "Appearance"
  4. Select "Fonts"
  5. Deselect the checkbox next to "Allow document to use other fonts"

Internet Explorer (AOL pre 7.0)

  1. Go to "Tools"
  2. Select "Internet Options "
  3. Click "Accessibility"
  4. Click to "Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages "

Proceed with the following steps for changing system default font based on your operating system:

Windows Vista

  1. Right-click the desktop and select "Personalize"
  2. In the left pane, click "Adjust font size (DPI)". Administrator permission is required. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. In the DPI Scaling Dialog box, select "Default Scale(96dpi)", "Large Scale(120dpi)" or "Custom DPI"
  4. If using "custom dpi", enter the percentage of normal size you want
  5. Click "OK"

Windows XP

  1. Right-click the desktop and select "Properties"
  2. In "Display Properties" window, click the "Settings" tab
  3. Click "Advanced"
  4. On the "General" tab, select "Normal size (96dpi)" Or "Large Size (120dpi)"
  5. Click "OK"

Windows 2000

  1. Right-click the desktop and select "Properties"
  2. In "Display Properties" window, click the "Settings" tab
  3. Click "Advanced"
  4. On the "General" tab, select "Small Fonts" Or "Large Fonts"
  5. Click "OK"

Windows NT

  1. Right-click the desktop and select "Properties"
  2. Click the "Settings" tab
  3. In the "Font Size" window select "Small Fonts" Or "Large Fonts"
  4. Click "OK"

Windows 98

  1. Right-click the desktop and select "Properties"
  2. Click the "Settings" tab
  3. Click "Advanced"
  4. Select "Small Fonts" Or "Large Fonts"
  5. Click "OK"
